Taking into account background of the ongoing CSR debate in Europe and the different initiatives launched by the European Commission (EC) in the last years, the Social Dialogue Committee has considered CSR a relevant topic for the Postal Sector.
After the decision of the Employers and Trade Unions in the Social Dialogue Post to do two collections of good practices on CSR in 2004, 2005 and to organise an EC-financed CSR-Conference in Rome in October 2005, a Joint Statement on CSR was signed by the Social Partners in November 2005. Therein, Employers and Trade unions expressed their will to keep track of the progress of the CSR-initiatives in the context of the Social Dialogue Committee in the Postal Sector. It was thus decided to bring a regular contribution to the reviex of CSR matters in the postal sector by mean of a yearly CSR Day
The aim of the CSR-Day is to analyse the current status and the possible evolution of CSR-topics in the Postal Sector bringing together Representatives from the European Commission as well as External Experts and the Social Partners. The CSR-Day gives the opportunity to analyse if and how the collected good practices have been further developed by the Social Partners.
Two CSR days have been organized so far:
In 2006, the First CSR Day
In 2008, the Second CSR Day
As a result of the second CSR Day, common reflections about Diversity management and CSR communication have been put forward by the Commitee. View the joint project common reflections
A final implementation report of the second CSR Day has been issued in accordance with the European Commission call of proposals.
The 2nd CSR Day 2008 led to the publication of a booklet " Diversity Management and CSR-Communication in the Postal Sector". This publication which entails all the presentations made during the conference highlights the fact that CSR is an important concept for a company\'s management and work force, in particular in the postal sector.
