In 2007 and 2008, the working group developed a project with the financial support of the European Commission aiming at implementing the Joint Declaration on Training and Skills Development in the postal sector.

Three regional workshops took place in Tallinn, Vienna and London (see meetings in 2007 and 2008).

Considering the best practices exchanged and the matters discussed during these three events, the working group has worked on a Joint Statement, a follow up analysis containing a summary of the main project's conclusions and the "Training working group programme".

These workshops showed that both the employers and the trade unions recognize that training and skills development are crucial in the management of the transformation of the postal sector. They were also an opportunity to raise the knowledge and awareness on the Joint Declaration.
